Brief History

The PIA Employees Cooperative Housing Society was registered under cooperative societies act 1925 registered by the Registrar Cooperative Societies Punjab vide 'registration certificate' No. 942 dated 08-09-1979 for the establishment of a Cooperative Housing Society. 1791 kanals 09 Marlas for Phase-I and 380 kanals 05 Marlas for its Phase-II. Was purchased in Niaz Baig Ad Satto Katla Revenue estate. Accordingly, LDA gave approval of both phases vide their letters No. CMP/53S/LDA/135 (Phase-I) and CMP/105-S/LDA/137 (Phase-II) both dated 10-10-1982. The Society comprises of Nine (9) Blocks, Seven (7) in Phase-I (A, B, C, D, E, F & G) while two (2) Blocks in Phase-II (A1 & B1).

The Society is situated at a very prime location of city near Township, WAPDA Town, Revenue Society, Punjab Govt Society, Iqbal Avenue and Johar Town etc. Due to centrally located site all the prominent commercial outlets of the city have started their business activities on the recently commercialized roads.

1. All the plots are allotted no un-allotted plot is available for any further allotment.

2. During course of time, some plots are sub-divided into two portions approved by the LDA However, some owner's sub-divided their plots illegally without approval society / LDA. However few plots have been sub-divided by Sub-Registrar (Revenue) thought register sale deed.

3. With passage of time due to some inevitable problems slight changes have be done in the approved lay out plan revised lay out plan is under way and is likely to submitted to the competent authority for approval.

4. All the Civic amenities such like pipe water, sewerage, electricity and gas with filtration plants and underground sewerage system linked with LDA trunk sewer stands provided since longs in both Phases.

Problems Being Faced by the Society

i. PIA ECHS is facing the shortage of funds resulting in the delay to undertake the improvements works in certain sector such as electricity improvement underground sewerage structure, repair of roads and replacement of the old water supply and sewer pipes in addition to the maintenance of the street lights, park, community center for initiating the work on Hospital.

ii. Efforts are in progress for the release of the mortgage plots with LDA to facilitate the allottees for construction of houses on such plots.
